Personal Responsibility- an extract from the book.

Personal responsibility means being responsible for everything that happens in a person’s life.

Most people have a hard time accepting responsibility for their lives, especially if things aren’t going very well. It is much easier to blame someone else.

When a person begins to take responsibility for everything that is within their control, their power increases to include things that are beyond their control.

This concept was illustrated by Stephen R. Covey in his book, “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.”

7 habits

A person’s circle of concern includes all the things that they care about. The circle of control represents all of the things that they have direct control over. If a person focuses on the things that they can’t control in their circle of concern, their circle of control begins to shrink and they have less and less power in their lives.

If a person takes personal responsibility for their lives by focusing on their circle of control, that circle expands to include more and more things. The person is becoming more powerful and more responsible.

About itouchedathought

I am a true believer of the concept that man ‘ape’s’ another quickly and never realizes that he/she lived not their lives but someone else’s. I am referencing to the role models available around us; starting from Popeye “the sailor man” to strong character like Howard Roark from fountain Head, Dr. House – T.V Series, Michael Scofield- Prison Break, Dr. Nash – A Beautiful Mind, Dr. Spencer Reid – Criminal Minds, and many others. We might have different role models, but the concept of aping is for ‘real’. I am a die hard fan of all these characters. I now guess, you must have arrived at a conclusion on how I must be thinking? Yea, that’s correct; and that’s me.
